Doing My Part for Economy of the United States...lol

This morning, I was reading the news on the net and all the talk about the economy and what the government plans to do to boost the economy etc...

Apparently there is talk of us all (in the US) getting $600 in a few months from the government to put back into the economy! Wouldn't that be fabulous and how will we pay in the end for it...were my first thoughts?? Cause you know we'll pay, we just won't know it...

Well, all this talk about the state of our economy got me thinking about what I can do as a citizen of the United States...

So, I had the brilliant idea that I should shop til I dropped, or my fingers fell off, whichever came first...

I just thought of all the things I have been putting off buying that I wanted but dont particularly *need*, KWIM? And thought this would be the perfect time to do my duty as a US citizen and boost the economy ;) (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!)

Anyway, here's where I have been today and what I bought:

A Sketch and a Color Challenge

I was in a stamping mood again last night so I went over to SCS to check out the challenge action they had going on.

What I found was this weeks Color Challenge & the My Favorite Things sketch chellenge!
The colors for the Color Challenge this week are: Sofy Sky, Blue Bayou and Real Red. I knew when I read those colors that they would be beautiful together and they were right up my alley!

This next card was inspired by the Color Challenge but doesn't use the exact colors on it.
I just bought this Paper Kit by Me & My Big Ideas on sale at Michaels and really wanted to use some of the paper in it. The Kit is called either "Soft Spoken" or "Chester"....I can't figure out which cause it has both of these names on the front of the pack...wierd, huh?

What a Weekend!!!

Oh my goodness, this weekend was so fun!

Of course you ALL know it was VSN Weekend over at SCS, right?? Well, that meant 2 straight days of stamping! Perfect weekend, right??

Friday night I went to my friend Paulette's house with about 10 other ladies to play the evenings VSN challenges together. We ate dinner (spaghetti, thanks Paulette) and ate snacks and stamped the night away! I got home around 12:30 am! I'd call that a successful Friday night, wouldnt you???

Saturday's VSN Challenges started at 12:00pm and continued on until 11:00pm. I did 14 of the 18 challenges, so i'd say that was pretty good.

Stamping, Stamping & More Stamping!!

All of which I can't show you but I'm stamping, trust me!

I have 2 new SU! catalog swaps to be in and my projects for Unity Stamp Co. and VSN which is next weekend!! I have lots of stamping to get done, that is why I am not at Target right now buying some of those adorable mailboxes and another controller for my Wii....sacrifices have to be made, KWIM??


This is the card that I came up with for a swap with some fabulous swappers on SCS

I used the new set called Pun Fun and the new Designer Series Paper, East Coast Prep. I would have never thought of these colors together but I absolutely love them! They really know what they are doing over at Stampin' Up!

Another card I am working on is for a swapping group I am in called Great Swaps, we have a Yahoo Group and we swap with all SU! products, lots of layers and good quality. There are some super talented stampers in this group...I have re-done my card for this swap 3 times now and it still isnt *perfect* so I'll be working on that today! I know that my set is the new set called Stemming From so I do have a starting point and lots of new paper to use so it should not be this hard!

Other things that I stamped last night and this morning were all for Virtual Stamp Night which is coming up next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18th and 19th! The theme is Girls Night Out so guess what?? A friend invited me over along with some other friends of ours, to show them how VSN works and sort of be their tour guide for the night!! It is going to be so much fun. Our hostess Paulette is even going to cook for us This is so perfect since the theme is "Girls Night Out", KWIM??

Old Skool Card ~ for Dad

This is my first card as a Design Team member for Unity Stamp Company!!

This stamp set is called Old Skool and it is pretty cool, huh?? My dad would just love this card since he has 3 Harley Davidson's...yes 3! And he is only 1 person but he says they are all for different reasons....as long as mom understands that's all that matters, right??

So I Went Shopping...

and have some fabulous new goodies coming my way SOON!

First of all my Stampin' Up! order from the new catalog is on it's way. It should be here tomorrow or Thursday, can you beleive it??

Here is what I have coming to me:

Pun Fun, Stemming From, Berry Bliss DSP, East Coast Prep DSP, Flower Fusion, the Pumpkin Pie & Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and some glue dots and boring stuff like that. For my Free Hostess Merchandise I got the Boho Blossom Punch and I just realized that I forgot to order the stamp set that goes with it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess that's what happens when you are all excited about ordering at the very 1st second, selfish, I know and this is my punishment..not having the matching stamp set for my poor punch... :(

As my Hostess Item I chose the Prints Pack of Designer Paper.

Did you notice that I got a bunch of new Designer Series Paper??? No, I dont *need* any of it but it is all so gorgeous I had to have it! It is unbelievable how Stampin' Up! keeps coming up with these gorgeous paper designs, its amazing!

The other things I shopped for recently were all from my favorite ebay store Jacksonbelle Embellishments (blog: Embellished)

I got the new Basic Grey paper Two Scoops:

They also have brads to match this new paper and I had to ge both sets of those as well!!

The last thing I bought while browsing my favorite ebay store was the new Paper Crafting Kit from Cosmo Cricket "Hey Sugar"! I was so excited to see that Lindsey had 2 more packs available and one had my name written all over it!!

Won't these 2 packs of paper be so perfect for making Valentine's Day cards?????

Now if I can just tear into it as soon as it gets here instead of looking at it for months....

Isnt that fabulous???? I won a brand new Gorgeous watermark!! I was so exicted when I saw the post that I had won, I couldnt beleive it!

Exciting News!

First of all, I am sitting here eating a chicken biscuit with mustard on it for breakfast...my family thinks that is wierd but I love them! Is that wierd??

Second, I have been selected to be on the Design Team for a brand new stamp company, Unity Stamps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Can you beleive it? I still can't and I have known for a few days now...still in a little bit of shock!
I will be getting the stamps to play with in a few days and I will share, share, share here as soon as I make something with them which will be my 1st priority!


The next exciting news is that over at SCS it is almost time for Virtual Stamp Night Weekend, January 18 - 19!!! I have been hard at work (well, last night at least!) on samples for all the fabulous challenges for this event! I am a hostess of one of the challenges on Saturday night! I hope that everyone comes and stamps and has a great Girl's Night Out with us!!!


While making some samples for the VSN Challenges I fell in love with the now retired Creative License Simply Scrappin' Kit from Stampin' Up!! Why have I had this for sooooo long and never even opened it up? Oh yeah, that would have to do with my paper *collecting* problem that I am trying to deal with. So, I actually opened the kit up and started cutting away!

Here is one card that I came up with late last night that I am pretty fond of. It isnt often that I make a card that I really, really think is cute but this is one of those times

I used a blender pen and ink from the lid of the inkpad to color the boat in on Confetti White Cardstock.

I am normally not into this much detail and cutting but I am really glad that I went out of my comfort-zone and cut the little boat out!

Who Wants Over 100 Pieces of Designer Paper????

Not Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Ok well, I do *want* it but I can't have it....because I have about 1,500 pieces of paper of my own!!

I am trying to be in the spirit of using what I have instead of collecting so much, KWIM??

I figured I would start in the hardest place for me and that is the Designer Paper department....I am quite the collector of pretty paper. I just love it, it's so, well, pretty!

So, what I did was went through the 6 - 12x12 paper holders and the other 3 - 9x12 holders and took out as much paper as I could possibly bare to part with and decided to give it to someone else! It was soooo hard to go through and take out these pretty pieces of paper to give away. BUT I know they will all go to a crafter that will love them as much as me (maybe not, it's a little sick) and will use them and create with them!


Holy Schmackers, right???

What I have here is at least 55 whole 12x12 sheets of Paper, then there are at least 25 half-sheets, then over 60 pieces that are all big enough to make cards with! Some are long 12 inch strips and some are cut to standard card size already but they are all big enough to use and not tiny scraps!!!!

This treasure trove of paper is going to go to a random winner chosen on Saturday, January 5, 2008!!

Just leave a comment on whether you are a user or a collector or both, of crafting supplies!! I need some tips and advice on how to use some of this paper and some of these stamps that I have sitting around here. I am quite good at shopping for supplies, not so good at using the supplies so HELP ME!!!
