Yay ~ Not a Christmas Card!!

Is anyone else as excited as I am to be done stamping because you "have" to?? That is what I finally did on Saturday morning.

I have told myself that I have to start using the stamps and supplies that I already have that are collecting dust or else I am just going to have to sell them all or give them all away! It is pretty bad in my stamping room...I have so many things that I had to have and needed at the moment that have never been used, it should be against the law, really! I have become quite the collector or stamping supplies!! I just love to shop and I love to stamp so that's what happens when you put the 2 together...


On this card I used the stamp set Boatloads of Love from Stampin' Up and some new paper that I bought months ago at Michaels by Me & My Big Ideas. Aren't you proud of me? I used 2 neglected items at 1 time:)


I made this card to give to my husband. I used to make him cards all the time but kind of got off track with that here lately so he was pretty excited to get a card he could keep and that actually had something written inside of it, lol. Everytime I give him a card to look at he opens it up fully expecting to see something written or stamped on the inside and there never is!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont stamp anything inside until I am ready to give the card to someone cause I never know who it's going to, KWIM?? Do all men do this?? Or is he wierd?? (he's wierd, I know, but he's so darn cute, hehe).



Tomorrow I am going to post my latest Blog Candy Giveaway!! I already know what it is, I just need to take a picture for you and I will do that tonight, I promise!! Speaking of give blog giveaways, I would love to have a snazzy name to call my blog giveaway. Does anyone have a good idea for me?? There would be incentive for the winner so think of something good, ok????? Pretty Please!!!!

In other news, it's New Years Eve and I forgot to make reservations at one of our favorite restaraunts...oops....so I called and of course the only reservation they had was at 4:15 so it looks like i'll be cooking on New Years Eve :horror:

Cards for My Daughter's Friends

My daughter needed some cards for a few of her good friends at school so she asked me to make 8 for her. She looked through my stamps and chose Elzybell as the stamp that she wanted and then she sat down and sketched out how she wanted them to look, what colors to use, what designer paper to use and everything.

Needless to say, these are the easiest Christmas cards I had to make all year long! I might have to ask her to help me out with ideas for myself in the future!

Accessories Used: Stardust Glitter Pen, Stickers from SS Kit Unfortunately for me, this isnt the last Christmas project that I have to work on! I still have to make 15 gifts of some kind for the ladies in my office...I am working on making some 2, 5, 7, 10 boxes (if that's what they are called!) or the other boxes with the numbers...2, 5, 7, 8 or something like that, I don't know.


All I do know is that I STINK at measuring and at scoring! I may just be the world's worst measurer and scorer! It's really sad, the amount of perfectly good cardstock I have wasted in the past couple of days trying to fold and score and measure...No, I didnt use scrap paper, I went straight for the SU! cardstock every time and in the trash it went every time! Well, a few are on the computer desk, 1 of which my daughter picked up last night and said "Geesh, you really messed this up, hope you arent giving it to anyone..." She's right.

If I don't blog to you again before Christmas, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas ~~ But I might be back before then, who knows??

• I have a TON of grey hair. Have had it since I was a teenager!

• No one in my family lives in the same state as me, just the in-laws...

Almost Done and a Personal Story, too

Almost done with my Christmas cards! And I am not going to try not to post anymore here after today as to not bore the masses...

This is one that I made last night using this cute snowman that I bought to use for Christmas cards this year but it turns out he is a little too "artsy" for me or something...I am more into the cute snowmen, so I didn't use him much afterall.

This is the kind of snowman that I am more comfortable with. No coloring necessary, just my type!

I made 3 of both of those snowman cards and that should just about finish up my Christmas card making for 2007! Now I have to get started on making gifts for the girls in my office. I love giving people just a little something at Christmastime. I am thinking about making some nugget boxes since I just got my order from Clear Dollar Stamps and have their new set to use to make cute nugget wrappers with!

About the Clear Dollar Stamps: I am SO impressed with the quality of these stamps and their customer service! I used a few of the little stamps last night with SU! Classic Ink and the ink stuck to the acrylic perfectly ~ just as well as it sticks to SU! rubber stamps!

I am not an acrylic aficianodo or anything so this is just my novice experience and opinion but I thought i'd share, and their prices are OUTSTANDING!

When I make my wrapped nuggets this weekend, i'll post some pics of these new stamps!

This little 3 x 3 card is for a challenge that I do with my Sassy Friends on SCS. We have a challenge every Wednesday and this week we were to make a 3 x 3 card. Luckily I was trying to make some fancy schmancy folded card and messed it up beyond repair...so I was able to cut that messed up card and make it into a 3 x 3 card for our challenge!

And finally I wanted to share something non-stamp related with y'all!

I don't really want or need anything for Christmas this year and let me tell you why...

The love of my life is a dog named Tara (it's ok, my husband and daughter know already!). Recently we had a scare with her. She had a tumor growing on her bottom eyelid and we were scared to death about it! The vet told us he could take it off or we could send her to a Veterinarian Opthamologist to have it done, and that the specialist would cost 3 times as much as him doing it but that the spot was s sensitive area since it is her bottom eyelid and the skin is "touchy" there, etc... Even though money is no object when it comes to our "Bear Bear", I asked our vet to honestly tell me if he could do a good job and if he would do this surgery on his own family member and he said "yes" he could do it and would do the best job he could do!

He did the surgery on the 29th of November and it looked great! She had 3 little stitches and the tumor was gone. Now the hard part was beginning because we had to wait to see if it was cancer or not and then see what we would do if it was. They said it would take 2 weeks to find out but it was only about 9 days and the vet called to tell us that the tumor was benign and she would be fine!

I just listened to the message on the answering machine and cried my eyes out and made Tara listen to it too! I left it on the machine and told my husband that he had an important message so when he got home he listened to it and it looked like he was going to cry too...but we'll say he didn't ;).

Last night I had to take her to get the stitches out and her eye looks amazing. Even the vet said he had to toot his won horn over doing such a beautiful job on her surgery!

So, that is about the best Christmas present that I could ever ask for, don't ya think??

Needless to say I am just so happy and relieved and spent most of last night laying on the couch with my head on her side kissing and hugging her!! She is so sweet and loving and laid back, she's just my best friend ever and she knows it too! She's spoiled rotten and the love of my whole famiy's life! Even my grandma and family from all over calls to see how their "sweet Tara" is doing...she's just a joy!

Simple Trees

I saw this beautiful card here: Twisted Chick Creations and wanted to make one so badly especially since I have that Christmas set with that sentiment coming in the mail to me...I tried to wat for it to get here but I just couldn't so I used what I had and made 2 cards.

This first one was my first try and when I showed my husband he said it needed more "3-d ness" to it....and that the trees were a little tight together. He was right but it was my 1st try, KWIM, so as I was putting the trees down, and I saw that they were too close it was too late to change it since they were already stuck. I use Tombow Mono-Multi glue and there is no turing back with that stuff! Once it's down it's down forever!

So, for my 2nd card I planned the layout a little better and spaced the trees out and put some under the front layer of "ground" to give it that "3-d ness" that was suggested. I also used the pretty Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper that I have been holding onto for "later" that I got at Jacksonbelle's and some silver diamond shaped brads that I thought I would never use for anything.
I think this 2nd card came out much better than the 1st, don't you?

I think I only have about 20 more Christmas cards to make. I am going to try to get them all done this weekend so I don't have to think about Christmas cards anymore this year!! Except for the cards I recieve, of course!

Aren't you Proud of Me??

I started on my Christmas cards last night!

I have had Lovely As a Tree for, I would guess, about a year without ever mounting it! I often see such beautiful, simple cards using this set in the gallery at SCS so I thought that it would be a great set to use for my time crunched Christmas cards this year. I've only gotten 6 made so far but that's pretty good for just about 2 hours of sitting at the old stamping table, dontcha think?

Both cards use patterned paper by My Minds Eye from the Frost line of paper. The top card uses Soft Sky and the other card uses Bashful Blue, the brown is Chocolate Chip. I just love blues and brown and pinks and brown, dont you??

6 down...a whole heck of a lot more to go!

Avoidance

Yes, I practiced a lot of avoidance this weekend...avoided cleaning (daughter did that), avoided laundry (thank God I had new clothes to wear today;)) and most detrimental I avoided making a single Christmas card this weekend and I need to make between 60 and 70 of them!!

I do not know what is wrong with me. Last year I was making my Christmas cards all the month of Novemeber and I was mailing them by this time! I just havent felt like doing any stamping...I have new Christmas stamps and paper and ribbon to use, just no gumption...

Oh well, hopefully it will hit me soon or else!

I did stamp this weekend though I have no pictures to prove it. I went to a BIG Shoebox Swap at my friend Norma's house. My project was an oragami box but I don't have a picture of it since I left my sample there for our hostess to keep. There were about 18 of us there and we stamped from 9:00 am until whenever we were finished. I was done around 3:00 and then went home to start on my Christmas decorating at home!

I put the tree up on Friday night and then took Saturday afternoon/evening putting the decorations on it. My family will tell you that I am a little wacky about the Christmas tree...I don't know what they are talking about I just like every ornament to be in the exact perfect spot, no big deal! So after hours and hours of putting an ornament on and moving it to a "better" spot it was finally finished...OH! we added colored lights to the tree too! It was just a crazy suggestion by my husband and I actually went with his suggestion and put some on the tree and I am pretty happy with that decision.

Back to my wacky obsession with the Christmas tree ornaments...my evil family will sometimes move several ornaments around just to see how long it takes me to notice, cause I will notice and they will be in big trouble!! Especially if I can't remember exactly where it was the 1st time!

And now we have a kitten and she was already trying to pull of the sparkly spiraly thingys that I put on the tree, she was making me so upset this morning that she made me cry and I am not a crier!

Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the tree, one with the lights on and one off. It would have been prettier if i'd taken the pics at night but it was too late last night when I got it all finished so I took them this morning.

Below is a picture of the outside of the house.

There is a deer on the far right of the yard that isnt in the picture. He doesnt like his picture taken because unfortunately we live around people that hunt and he gets a little nervous every year when he has to come out of the attic....don't worry we have a "NO HUNTING" sign near him so he should be ok:)

The little lights on the ground behind the snowman and penguin are these super cute big light bulbs that are colored and are lining the flower bed (here is an example of them, in case you want to see them close up cause they are really cute. I got mine at Michael's and they have 5 on them versus 4 as in this example: BIG BULB LIGHTS ). My husband was leary of them but they are really, really cute! Oh and the icicle lights twinkle...another new thing for us this year. We are usually plain old white light people...but this year we added a little more BLING!

Anyone have any tips for me to get on the ball with these Christmas cards??? Or maybe it is just too late for me to even start, whaddya think??
